Ms. Gabriela Bucher, Managing Director of Oxfam International at the "Equitable Responses to Ending the Pandemic" dialogue, World Economic Forum
At the "Equitable Responses to Ending the Pandemic" dialogue, Gabriela Bucher, Director of Oxfam International, confronted the CEO of Moderna pharmaceutical group about the technology transfer of COVID-19 vaccine production with WHO in South Africa.
Ms. Gabriela stressed that vaccine development is heavily supported by public investment, and governments must stop prioritizing monopolies in pharmaceuticals and put human lives first.
On the same afternoon, Ms. Gabriela also attended a discussion on gender equality with CEOs of many big corporations. Accordingly, the pandemic has reversed decades of efforts to promote gender equality, as women have carried heavier burdens of unpaid care work and unstable informal jobs.
