This is research project aims to apply both qualitative and quantitative methods to identify the actual impacts of Vietnam’s Gender Equality Law (GEL) on gender equality in the political field over the last 10 years. The project is expected to provide comparisons of the GEL with other national laws and international conventions/commitments to identify the existence of gaps that hinder the full impact of the GEL. The findings will be used to make recommendations for amendments to the Gender Equality Law.

What we aim to achieve
To identify how the Gender Equality Law’s provisions on promoting gender equality in the political field conform to other related laws and international conventions. Findings will be used as inputs for the GELs revision process.
The project will contribute recommendations for the revision of the National Gender Equality Law in 2022 in terms of women’s political participation.
Target and Beneficiary Groups
All genders, especially women, will benefit from the updated Gender Equality Law when it is revised in 2022.
