1. What contest is this?
The project "Gender Transformative & Responsible Business Investment in South East Asia" (GRAISEA) Phase 2 is organizing a contest seeking "Initiatives to increase women's economic empowerment in the rice chain", aiming to create opportunities for women, farmer groups, and cooperatives to propose and implement initiatives as well as good practices in agricultural production and business. Contest topics include:
- Diversify livelihoods and improve women's income
- Increase women's confidence, leadership and participation.
- Adaptation to climate change (climate change)
- Promote technical innovation, organization of production, processing and business. Create favorable conditions for women to access and effectively use production and business resources (capital, science and technology, affiliate networks, market information, etc.)
- Strengthen linkages with parties in the value chain (enterprises, government, scientists, service providers, etc.)
2. Who can join?
The contest is open to groups of farmers/women operating in the rice value chain in the three provinces of An Giang, Kien Giang and Soc Trang and not necessarily participating in the Graisea 2 project. Participation in the form of a collective (from 2 people or more) and those initiated/led by women, or having more than 50% of the members co-developing are women, are encouraged.
3. Why should I join?
Farmers' groups are supported to develop new ideas, improve existing production and business models, thereby increase economic empowerment and women's participation, improve income, and better connect with stakeholders, while improving resilience to climate change. Support from the program includes technical support (training, intensive training) and partial financial support to implement potential livelihood models.
4. What activities are there?
Deadline for submission of proposals: 5:00 p.m. on June 24, 2022
WEEK 1 JUNE: Basic Disclosure & Proposal Writing Competition Launch
WEEK 4 JUNE: Preliminary round - 15 most potential initiatives are selected
WEEK 1 JULY 7: Training course to perfect the initiative
WEEK OF JULY 2: 7 most complete initiatives are chosen
WEEK OF JULY 3: Contest Finals and Awards
THEN the Project supports the development and realization of award-winning initiatives
5. Prizes:
01 1st prize: 10,000,000VND
01 2nd prize: 8,000,000VND
01 3rd prize: 6,000,000 VND AWARD
04 consolation prizes: 3,000,000VND
In addition to the winning initiatives, the Organization Board will select other potential initiatives to conduct investment and support after the competition.
6. How to join:
Candidates use the form developed by the Organization Board to fill out the information about the initiative. Candidates then send their proposal in paper, email, or photograph to one of the following addresses:

Authorization letter
Proposal form (no more than 3 A4 pages) (Format: File pdf/ppt/doc).
7. Evaluation criteria:
SUITABILITY: Follow the theme of the contest. Prioritize initiatives that contribute to increasing women's income and productivity, and increasing the voice and presence of women in the family and community.
CREATIVITY: Contributing to the creation of new values/new practices demonstrating the capacity and role of women.
FEASIBILITY: The initiative is possible given the group's existing resources, and with program support.
SUSTAINABILITY: The initiative can continue to operate and be profitable after the program stops supporting. The initiative ensures the harmony between economic and social development as well as environmental protection.
REPLICABILITY: The model/initiative has the ability to spread and replicate.
