Mr. Jean-Louis VILLET, Acting Director for the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Directorate General for International Partnership, European Commission in Brussels, Belgium attended a meeting with Hoa Binh Provincial People's Committee
From April 25 to May 1, Mr. Jean-Louis VILLET, Acting Regional Director for the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Directorate General for International Partnerships, European Commission in Brussels, Belgium had a visit and work with a number of agencies and organizations in Vietnam. Oxfam in Vietnam has been authorized by the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam to support the delegation in working with Hoa Binh Provincial People's Committee and visit 03 EU-funded projects in Hoa Binh, including 2 supported projects within the framework of the Justice Initiatives Facilitation Fund (EU JULE JIFF).
At the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Bui Van Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives of departments welcomed the delegation. Representatives of leaders of the Department of Planning and Investment introduced the opportunities, strengths, and investment attraction situation in the province in recent years. In the coming years, the province aims to attract investment to develop infrastructure, especially in transportation, health care, education; natural disaster risk prevention, reduction, prevention and control, green growth, innovation, and social security. Concentrating on 6 main areas includes agriculture, forestry, hunger eradication - poverty alleviation; job education; environmental protection; medical development; social problem solving; development of culture, sport, and tourism.
The Provincial People's Committee proposed to the European Union Delegation to Vietnam to pay attention to support the province in fields of sustainable development, environmental protection, and energy conversion and to act as a bridge to promote investment with other businesses in the European Union; supporting the provision of information on the province's socio-economic situation, promoting potential strengths with EU partners; supporting to maintain and expand cooperation relationships with embassies in order to attract capital sources; ODA, FDI, and foreign non-governmental (NGO) in the province.
The Provincial People's Committee also suggested that Oxfam in Vietnam should continue to pay attention to, support, and implement new projects in the province.
In the afternoon of the same day, Mr. Jean-Louis VILLET and the delegation visited and participated in the "Launching Ceremony in response to World Environment Day 5/6" - an activity of the project "Strengthening the role of women in environmental protection for community health" in Thanh Hoi commune, Tan Lac district by the Hoa Binh Provincial Women's Union - the third grant recipient of EU JULE JIFF.
Participating in the event there were representatives of EUJULE Project Management Board - Ministry of Justice, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, People's Committee of Tan Lac District and People's Committee of Thanh Hoi Commune, Fatherland Front, Women's Union, Youth Union, Public Security, media agencies and local people. After the launching ceremony, Mr. Jean-Louis and the delegation participated in planting souvenir trees, listening to members of the model "Every waste is a tree" sharing about project activities.
After that, the delegation continued to visit the project "Promotion of supply and demand of Eco-Fair Agri-food processing products in Vietnam" implemented by "Cao Phong 3T Agricultural Cooperative" in Cao Phong District, which is managed by the Vietnam Rural Industry Research and Development Institute (VIRI) and supported by the Cooperative Alliance of Hoa Binh Province - the third recipient of the EUJULE JIFF Fund.
In this project, in addition to training knowledge about the law on environmental protection, the Provincial Cooperative Union supported the processing technique of EM bio-products to help control pests and decompose garbage and manure to make fertilizer for orange orchards. Ms. Vu Thi Le Thuy, Director of 3T farm cooperative, said that in the process of operation, the cooperative members always perform well in the safe farming process and always form an awareness about production links that will create increasing value for agricultural products. Explaining the word 3T farm, Ms. Thuy explained: “The 3T orange garden means 3 good points, namely good varieties, good soil, and good mind. Only then will Cao Phong orange brand and products become more and more famous and have a firm position in today's increasingly fiercely competitive market", Ms. Thuy thanked the EU Delegation and Oxfam for visiting and looking forward to continuing to receive attention and support in the future.
