Ha Noi, May 05, 2026 –Oxfam in Vietnam launches an information-sharing session on the Second Grant Call under the “Project on Supporting Women-Led Green Transition Initiatives" (PWG), funded by the European Union.
This call focuses on supporting initiatives that contribute to improving livelihoods, creating decent work, and enhancing the role of women in sustainable agriculture and circular economy, in line with local conditions and climate change adaptation.
Each initiative may receive up to VND 1.8 billion (equivalent to EUR 60,000), with an implementation period of 12 to 15 months. The PWG Project accepts applications until June 12, 2026.
The initiative implementation areas include Lao Cai, Hue City, Da Nang City, Ca Mau, Tuyen Quang, and An Giang. These are localities increasingly affected by climate change, while also having significant needs in developing models for sustainable management and use of natural resources, sustainable agriculture, and supporting local communities in transitioning toward increasingly sustainable livelihood and economic development models.
In 2025, the First Grant Call of the PWG Project selected the 18 most outstanding initiatives from 119 proposals submitted. These granted initiatives have been implemented in four provinces and cities including Lao Cai, Hue, Da Nang, and Ca Mau, focusing on climate-adaptive agriculture, renewable energy, sustainable livelihoods, waste management, and promoting women's green entrepreneurship. By 2029, the PWG aims to fund approximately 65 initiatives, with the goal of supporting at least 33 women-owned businesses operating in the above-mentioned sectors, generating greater economic benefits for women and girls. Through this, more than 1,155 women and girls in all their diversity will have employment in the green and circular economy, while also driving at least 10 policy and practice changes at the local level, 7 to 10 million people will be reached with information on green employment opportunities.
Vietnam remains highly vulnerable to climate change and natural disasters. Women and girls are among the most affected, often facing unequal access to resources, finance, and decision-making spaces, while shouldering the responsibility of unpaid care work.
The Vietnamese Government has taken steps to respond through gender-responsive policies in green and circular economy, climate adaptation and disaster resilience, while also participating in global green and gender equality commitments. The PWG contributes to these national efforts by improving access of women in all their diversity to decent jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities in the green and circular economy. It will also enhance their participation in decision-making at both national and local levels, facilitating their influence over policies that affect their lives.

The Project "Supporting Women-Led Green Transition Initiatives" (PWG) was launched on April 22, 2025. It is a component of the EU funded “Women-led Green Partnership Programme” and implemented by Oxfam in Vietnam.
PWG provides grant packages to partner organizations that are Vietnamese organizations, legally established and operating in accordance with Vietnamese law, and with experience in development fields, to implement local initiatives aimed at contributing to expanding access to employment opportunities and enhancing the role and status of women in the green transition.
Through this, the Project promotes:
- Strengthening the technical, operational, and networking capacity of Project-funded organizations, as well as facilitating experience sharing among them.
- Increasing public and private sector financing mechanisms for MSMEs, owned or managed by women, including women’s informal businesses-gender bonds
The PWG Project aims to improve sustainable employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for women in the green and circular economy sectors. At the same time, the Project strengthens women's participation in policies and decisions that affect their lives.
PWG adopts a flexible and transparent funding mechanism that prioritizes grassroots initiatives, which are proposed and implemented directly by local social organizations based on the real needs of their communities. The identification of priority areas was carried out through extensive consultations with local authorities, the Women’s Union, and social organizations to ensure that selected initiatives reflect the needs, conditions, and potential of each province.
