Dubbed the "queen of bamboo in Vietnam", Lung/Vau is driving profound changes in Quan Son district, a "poor area" of Thanh Hoa.
Bamboo forests blanketing the mountainous area of Que Phong, Nghe An hold the main livelihoods for most local families. So much so that the bamboo itself is hailed an “ATM machine”, dispensing cash as it is chopped and sold to merchants.
Nearly 1,000 hectares of bamboo forest planted and harvested by 212 households in Que Phong district (Nghe An) have been granted the FSC certificate - a certification of sustainable forest management.
