Accountability

Oxfam believes that citizens have a right to hold governments and institutions accountable, to expect them to respect their rights and do what they say they will do.
Likewise, we believe that non-governmental organizations should be accountable to the communities in which they work, to partner organizations, and to those from whom they receive support.
At Oxfam we have three core values: empowerment, Inclusiveness and Accountability. This means that staff will be expected to:
Know
-
Oxfam’s mission, beliefs, values and approach
-
Where to go for information and advice
-
Who we are accountable to
Feel
-
That we can be open and honest in your communication about issues
-
Responsible for making sound judgements
Do
-
Make judgements (actions, decisions, choices)
-
Own and learn from mistakes
-
Be transparent
