A workshop titled "Evaluating the management, implementation, and outcomes of the second phase of initiatives" was successfully conducted on July 6th. Hosted by the Judicial Initiatives Facilitation Fund (JIFF), the event witnessed the active participation of over 50 attendees, including representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Legal Aid Center, lawyers, and organizations that have received funding from the second funding round from JIFF.
Following a year of implementation, the initiatives have made significant contributions to legal awareness, benefitting nearly 87,000 individuals. Furthermore, over 3,800 people have received legal aid services, and constructive feedback has been provided on 10 decrees and law policies.
During the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizations demonstrated exceptional flexibility and creativity in their activities. They swiftly adapted to online platforms, utilizing social networks for virtual club activities, organizing online legal consultation sessions, and employing information technology tools such as mobile apps and chatbots for legal advice and sign language training websites. Moreover, substantial efforts were dedicated to collaborating with local management agencies and media outlets, effectively raising awareness about the rights of vulnerable groups.
The demand for legal advice and support remains substantial, particularly among disadvantaged groups residing in remote and isolated areas. However, local state agencies face resource constraints. The activities carried out by JIFF not only provide crucial support to individuals but also enhance the capacity of local officials to work effectively with disadvantaged communities and improve their communication skills.
The Justice Initiative Facilitation Fund (JIFF), managed by Oxfam in Vietnam, is an integral component of the "Strengthening the Law and Justice in Vietnam" project (EU JULE). This project, funded by the European Union, aims to improve the rule of law in Vietnam by establishing an accessible and reliable justice system.
