The contest "Initiatives to increase women's economic empowerment in the rice chain" officially kicked off on June 2. Farmers' groups in An Giang, Kien Giang, and Soc Trang, especially women, can write proposals and receive support to implement initiatives in the rice chain through one of the following topics:
- Innovation in technology, organization, production, processing, and agribusiness
- Improving women's adaptive capacity and resilience to climate change
- Strengthen linkages with parties in the value chain (enterprises, government, scientists, service providers, ...)
- Diversify and increase women's income
- Increase women's confidence, leadership, and participation
At the seminar kicking off the contest, Mr. Tran Cong Danh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kien Giang province shared: “I hope that the contest will receive many creative ideas... thus strengthening women's voices and participation in collective activities, important decisions in the family and society, promoting gender equality in rural areas".

The project aims to strengthen the economic role of women and the interests of small-scale producers through the promotion of responsible business practices by enterprises and stakeholders.
